Walk Like Royalty!
Living in the Authority and Identity God Gave You
Key Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9 (NASB)
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
Introduction:
Have you ever seen a royal family member walking through a crowd? They don’t move like commoners. They walk with confidence, dignity, and a sense of purpose. Picture a king stepping out of his palace, dressed in his royal robe, with his head held high. People make way for him, not because he demands it, but because his presence commands it. Now, imagine that same king slouching, looking unsure, hesitating as he walks—something would seem off, wouldn’t it?
But here’s the question: If we are part of God’s royal family, why do we often walk like we don’t belong?
Many Christians struggle with their identity, forgetting that we are not just saved—we are royalty in Christ! Being royal is more than a title; it’s a lifestyle, a mindset, and an authority that reflects who we are in Him. Today, we’re going to learn how to walk like royalty.
1. Royalty Walks in Authority
Scripture: Luke 10:19 (NASB)
"Behold, I have given you authority to walk on snakes and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you."
Illustration: Imagine a prince who grows up not knowing he is royalty. Instead of living in a palace, he begs on the streets. One day, someone tells him, “You’re the son of a king!” But instead of walking in his authority, he continues to beg because he doesn’t believe it.
Application: Some of us live like spiritual beggars, pleading for what God has already given us!
Eph 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”
Stop living in fear and defeat when you have power over the enemy. Walk in the authority Christ has given you.
- Speak with authority.
- Instead of Saying: "I don’t know if I can handle this..."
Say: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" (Philippians 4:13) - Instead of Saying: "I hope God will provide..."
Say: "My God will supply all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus!" (Philippians 4:19) - Instead of Saying: "I'm always afraid things will go wrong..."
Say: "God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline!" (2 Timothy 1:7) - Instead of Saying: "I’m just not good enough..."
Say: "I am fearfully and wonderfully made!" (Psalm 139:14) - Instead of Saying: "I feel alone in this..."
Say: "God is with me; He will never leave me nor forsake me!" (Deuteronomy 31:6) - Instead of Saying: "I’ll never change..."
Say: "I am a new creation in Christ; the old has passed away!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Courtroom Scene: Imagine a lawyer who doesn't know the law confidently vs. one who does. The lawyer who speaks with conviction commands the room! Similarly, when we speak God’s Word with faith and authority, it carries power in the spiritual realm.
- Pray with authority.
- Instead of Praying: “God, please be with me…”
Pray: “Thank You, Lord, that You are always with me! Your Word says You will never leave me nor forsake me.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) - Instead of Praying: “Lord, if it’s Your will, heal me…”
Pray: “In the name of Jesus, I declare healing over my body because by His stripes I am healed!” (Isaiah 53:5) - Instead of Praying: “God, please give me strength…”
Pray: “I declare that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” (Philippians 4:13) - Instead of Praying: “Lord, please help me get through this…”
Pray: “God, You have already given me victory! I walk in Your strength and overcome by faith.” (1 John 5:4) - Instead of Praying: “Father, please protect me…”
Pray: “Lord, I thank You that no weapon formed against me will prosper, and You have given Your angels charge over me!” (Isaiah 54:17, Psalm 91:11)

A Soldier and His Orders – Imagine a soldier on the battlefield who has direct orders from his commanding officer. He doesn’t beg for backup—he calls it in with authority because he knows the power behind his request. When we pray, we aren’t begging—we are declaring what God has already promised in His Word!
- Live with authority.
- Instead of Living in Fear:
Don’t: "I’m just trying to survive this season..."
Do: "I am more than a conqueror through Christ!" (Romans 8:37) - Instead of Living in Defeat:
Don’t: "I’ll never break free from this struggle..."
Do: "The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me!" (Romans 8:11) - Instead of Living in Passivity:
Don’t: "I’ll just wait and see what happens..."
Do: "I walk by faith and not by sight!" (2 Corinthians 5:7) - Instead of Living in Condemnation:
Don’t: "God must be so disappointed in me..."
Do: "There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus!" (Romans 8:1) - Instead of Living in Spiritual Poverty:
Don’t: "I don’t have enough to make a difference..."
Do: "God has blessed me to be a blessing to others!" (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Illustration: The Difference Between Rental and Ownership
Imagine someone who rents a home versus someone who owns a mansion. A renter feels limited—always asking permission to make changes, worried about what the landlord might say, unsure of their authority over the space. But an owner walks with confidence! They make decisions, set the rules, and take responsibility for their property.
Many Christians live like they are spiritual "renters"—unsure, hesitant, and constantly seeking approval—when God has called us to be owners in His Kingdom! We don’t have to beg for what’s already ours. We have full access to His promises and power. It’s time to start living like heirs, not spiritual tenants.
2. Royalty Walks in Character
Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23 (NASB)
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
Illustration: Imagine a king throwing a tantrum in public. Yelling at his servants, treating people poorly, and being completely undisciplined. Would anyone respect his position? No! People would question if he is truly fit to be a king.
Application: A true heir of God walks in the Spirit. How you talk, act, and treat others should reflect your heavenly identity. You don’t just claim to be royalty—you prove it by your character. Love when others hate. Show patience when others are impatient. Walk with self-control when the world is reckless. That’s the mark of true royalty.
- Instead of Responding with Anger:
Don’t: "They disrespected me, so I’m going to let them have it!"
Do: "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." (Proverbs 15:1) - Instead of Holding Grudges:
Don’t: "I’ll forgive them when they apologize first."
Do: "Just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also." (Colossians 3:13) - Instead of Complaining:
Don’t: "Nothing ever goes my way. I’m tired of this!"
Do: "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) - Instead of Gossiping:
Don’t: "Did you hear what they did? Let me tell you!"
Do: "Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up." (Ephesians 4:29) - Instead of Seeking Revenge:
Don’t: "They hurt me, so I’m going to make sure they feel it too."
Do: "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21)
Illustration:
Imagine a U.S. ambassador representing the country in a foreign nation. Everywhere they go, their words, actions, and attitude reflect the country they represent. If an ambassador is rude, dishonest, or reckless, it brings shame not just to themselves but to the entire nation they represent.
As believers, we are ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). How we carry ourselves reflects the Kingdom of God. If we are impatient, unkind, or lack self-control, people will question whether we truly belong to God’s royal family. But when we walk in love, patience, and integrity, we display the character of our King.
3. Royalty Walks in Purpose
Scripture: Ephesians 2:10 (NASB)
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."
Illustration: Imagine an heir to a great kingdom who spends his days sitting around, doing nothing. He never steps into his role, never fulfills his duty, and wastes his potential. Would that make sense? Absolutely not!
Application: You weren’t just saved to sit—you were saved to serve and make an impact! God has good works prepared for you—so step into them! Whether it’s in your church, your family, or your community, live like a child of the King, not a servant of fear.
- Instead of Sitting on the Sidelines:
Don’t: “I’ll serve when I have more time.”
Do: “Lord, use me now—where can I make an impact?” (Isaiah 6:8) - Instead of Thinking You're Not Qualified:
Don’t: “I’m not good enough to do ministry.”
Do: “God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.” (2 Corinthians 3:5) - Instead of Being Passive in Church:
Don’t: “Somebody else will take care of it.”
Do: “I am here to serve—how can I help?” (Mark 10:45) - Instead of Fearing Failure:
Don’t: “What if I mess up?”
Do: “God’s power is made perfect in my weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) - Instead of Living Aimlessly:
Don’t: “I don’t know what my purpose is.”
Do: “Lord, direct my steps and use my gifts for Your glory.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Illustration:
A king’s child doesn’t sit back while the kingdom moves forward—they train, prepare, and step into their purpose. Likewise, you have a calling! The King of Kings has already written your assignment—now it’s time for you to step into it.
Closing Challenge:
The Royal Invitation
Pastor: “In my hands, I hold something special—a royal invitation. It’s a decree from the King of Kings Himself, declaring that you are chosen, set apart, and called to walk in your divine identity. But like any invitation, you must choose to accept it. The question is: Will you step into the life God has called you to?
Will you…..
Challenge:
- Speak like royalty (words of faith, not fear).
- Think like royalty (renew your mind in Christ).
- Live like royalty (bold, loving, and full of purpose).
Altar Call: Are you ready to fully step into your identity and authority as a child of the King? It’s time to walk in your calling! Today, make a decision to stop living beneath your royal status and start walking in the victory, character, and purpose that God has for you.
If this is you…walk up now as a public symbol that you are fully committed to your King, Jesus Christ, and accept his Royal Invitation.
Declaration: Repeat after me: “I am chosen. I am royal. I walk in authority. I live with purpose. I will walk like royalty!”
The invitation is yours to keep as a reminder of who you are!
Let’s walk like the royalty we are! Amen!
