"You Are Royalty!"
"Living in the Authority and Inheritance of God's Kingdom"
1 Peter 2:9 (NASB) - "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
Illustration:
"Have you ever been to a masquerade party? Everyone wears masks, hiding their real faces behind something elaborate and beautiful. But no matter how stunning the mask, it's not their true identity. Many of us live like this—we wear a facade of confidence, success, or happiness while deep down, we struggle with insecurity, doubt, or fear. The enemy wants you to believe that you are just what you pretend to be, but God calls you something greater: chosen, royal, and His own (1 Peter 2:9). Today, it’s time to remove the mask and step into your true identity in Christ!"
Declaration: "You are not what the world labels you. You are royalty!"
Introduction: Knowing Who You Are
Many believers struggle with identity. The enemy wants to keep you thinking small, ordinary, and unworthy. But the Bible says otherwise—you are royalty! Not because of anything you did, but because of who your Father is. You belong to the King of Kings, and that makes you a child of divine royalty.
- Chosen by God – Your Royal Calling
1 Peter 2:9 declares that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood. You are not an accident; God chose you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).
What does it mean to be "chosen"?
- It means God has set you apart for a purpose.
- God set Jeremiah apart before birth, showing that He has a divine purpose for each of us. (Jer 1:5)
- We are created with purpose, and God has already planned the good works we are meant to fulfill. (Eph 2:10)
- Our calling is not random—it is according to God’s purpose and grace, set in place before time began. (2 Tim 1:9)
- We are chosen and set apart to proclaim God’s greatness—our purpose is to glorify Him and represent His kingdom. (1 Pet 2:9)
- It means you have value and significance in His kingdom.
- Jesus emphasizes that if God cares for even the smallest creatures, how much more valuable are we to Him? (Matt 10:29-31)
- God personally designed you—there is intentionality in your creation, proving your significance in His plan. (Ps 139:13-14)
- You were chosen before the world began and adopted into God’s family. That alone shows immense value in His eyes. (Eph 1:4-5)
- God calls His people the apple of His eye, meaning we are precious and highly valued to Him. (Zech 2:8)
- It means you have access to His promises and inheritance.
- As God’s children, we are heirs—meaning we have access to His promises and inheritance through Christ. (Rom 8:6-17
- Our inheritance in Christ was predestined—it is already ours because of God's divine plan. (Eph 1:11)
- Because we belong to Christ, we are part of Abraham’s covenant blessing—God’s promises are extended to us! (Gal 3:29)
- God has already granted us His promises—they are available now for us to live in and partake of. (2 Pet 1:3-4)
- Jesus mediated a new covenant, giving us access to the promise of eternal inheritance in Him. (Heb 9:15)
- The Bible clearly affirms that God has set us apart for a divine purpose. We are not here by accident; we are chosen, called, and equipped to fulfill His will!
- Scripture affirms that you are valuable and significant in God’s kingdom. You are not overlooked, not forgotten, and not without purpose—you are chosen, loved, and necessary in His divine plan!
- Scripture is clear: As God’s children, we are heirs to His kingdom, given access to His promises and secured in His inheritance. We are not just followers—we are rightful recipients of all that God has promised!

- A Royal Priesthood – Walking in Authority
Priests represent God, and kings rule with authority. You are both!
- Kings – G935 and G939 – The feet of and the foundation of power
- Priests – G2409 and G2413 – Sacred and Holy aligned with The High Priest
Revelation 1:6 (NASB) - "And He made us into a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen."
What does this mean for us?
- You have access to God without needing an earthly mediator (Hebrews 4:16).
- Because of Jesus, we can boldly enter God's presence, receive His mercy, and seek His grace anytime—without requiring a priest or earthly mediator.
- You have the authority to pray, declare, and walk in power (Luke 10:19).
- Notice the order:
- Pray
- Declare
- Walk in power
- Through Jesus, you have been given divine authority to overcome the enemy, walk in spiritual power, and boldly declare God’s truth in prayer and action.
- You are not a slave to fear, sin, or circumstances. You are royalty! (Roman 8:15-17)
- This verse declares that you are no longer a slave to fear but a child of God, adopted into His royal family as an heir alongside Christ. Because of this, your identity is not bound by sin, fear, or circumstances—you are royalty in God's kingdom!
Illustration: If a prince doesn’t know he’s royalty, he will live like a peasant—even though he has access to the kingdom. Many believers live below their calling because they don’t realize who they really are, their royal identity.
- Your Inheritance in Christ – Living Like Royalty
Romans 8:17 (NASB) - "And if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him."
What do we inherit?
- Spiritual authority – Power over the enemy and over fear.
- Jesus gives believers authority over the enemy, symbolized by snakes and scorpions, signifying power over demonic forces and spiritual attacks. (Luke 10:19)
- Fear does not come from God; instead, He has given us power, love, and a sound mind, reinforcing our spiritual authority. (2 Tim 1:7)
- When we submit to God, we can resist the enemy, and he must flee—proving our authority over him through Christ. (Jam 4:7)
- Jesus disarmed Satan’s power, meaning we walk in His victory and have authority over the enemy’s schemes. (Col 2:15)
- Divine provision – God supplies all your needs.
- God is the ultimate provider, meeting all our needs—not according to our limitations, but according to His abundant riches in Christ. (Phil 4:19)
- If we “Seek first” the kingdom of God, all these things will be added…(Matt 6:31-33)
- God will fulfill all our needs (Ps 23:1)
- God will give you overflowing grace (2 Cor 9:8)
- Eternal life and glory – Our future is secure in Christ!
- Jesus assures us that eternal life is secure in Him—no one can take us away from His protection and the Father’s hand. (John 10:28-29)
- Through Christ, we have spiritual authority over the enemy and fear. We can stand boldly, resist the devil, and walk in God’s power, love, and victory!
- God is faithful in providing everything you need—physically, spiritually, and emotionally. When you trust in Him, lack has no power over you!
- Our future is secure in Christ—eternal life and glory await us because of God’s faithful promises. We are assured that no matter what happens in this life, our eternal destiny is safe in Christ!
Living like royalty means:
Knowing your worth in Christ.
Walking in confidence, not insecurity.
Taking your place as a Kingdom representative.
Illustration: A king’s child doesn’t beg for food. He walks into the palace knowing everything belongs to him. As God’s children, we must stop begging and start believing in what God has already provided!
- Declaring and Demonstrating Your Royalty
Proverbs 18:21 (NASB) - "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."
Meaning and Explanation:
This verse emphasizes the incredible power of our words. It teaches that what we say can profoundly affect ourselves and others—either for life or death. Here's a breakdown of the key ideas:
- "Death and life are in the power of the tongue":
- Words have power: Our speech can either bring about life, healing, encouragement, and blessing, or it can bring about death, harm, destruction, or curses.
- This statement highlights the impact of words—they can either build up or tear down, bless or curse, depending on how they are used.
- "Those who love it will eat its fruit":
- Loving the tongue means valuing and using speech wisely. If a person loves to speak, they will experience the consequences of their words—whether positive or negative.
- "Eating its fruit" refers to the fact that we will reap the results of our words. If we speak life and truth, we will enjoy the benefits of those words (peace, joy, and healthy relationships). If we speak death (gossip, lies, insults), we will face the negative consequences (broken relationships, bitterness, and sorrow).
Key Takeaways:
- Words matter deeply: Our speech is a tool that can be used for good or for harm.
- Accountability for words: We are responsible for how we use our words, and they will have consequences—good or bad.
- Choose wisely: Speak life, encouragement, truth, and kindness, and you will experience the fruit of those words in your life.
Application:
- As believers, we are called to use our words in a way that reflects God's love and wisdom, bringing life to those around us.
- We can be intentional about speaking life over our own lives and the lives of others, recognizing that our words have lasting effects.
Royalty speaks differently!
- Instead of saying "I’m defeated," say "I am more than a conqueror!" (Romans 8:37)
- Instead of saying "I’m not good enough," say "I am fearfully and wonderfully made!" (Psalm 139:14)
- Instead of saying "I’m struggling," say "I can do all things through Christ!" (Philippians 4:13)
Illustration: A king doesn’t beg—he declares! As a child of the King, you must start speaking and living according to your identity in Christ.
Conclusion: Walk in Your Royal Identity!
1 You are chosen – God handpicked you!
2 You are royal – You have authority and access!
3 You are an heir – You have an inheritance in Christ!
4 You must live it out – Declare and demonstrate your royalty!
Call to Action: Stop living below your calling. Stand up, walk boldly, and live as the royalty you are in Christ!
Final Declaration:
"I am chosen, I am royal, I am an heir, and I will walk in my divine inheritance!"
Closing Prayer: Lord, thank You for calling us Your royal children. Help us to walk in our identity, authority, and inheritance. Let us live boldly for You, reflecting Your glory to the world. In Jesus' name, Amen!
